Quickswood House
Minimalist contemporary refurbishment of a three-bedroom former council house in NW London, with a strong emphasis on natural materials.
The new dining room, located in the north-facing extension, was conceived as a pavilion rather than a conventional indoor space: its retractable glazing opens fully, and the lifted corner of the living green roof admits low-angle evening sun.
A new staircase dramatically improves daylight penetration. Light from the south-facing kitchen–breakfast area filters into the living room through a built-in fish tank, while the master suite receives direct sunlight from the roof terrace.
