Full refurbishment and substantial extension of a three-bedroom end-of-terrace house in a conservation area.

The proposals were developed to meet the owners’ needs for contemporary city living, as well as their urgent requirement to accommodate both spouses’ parents displaced by the war in Ukraine.

The main challenge — and a key concern for the local authority — was nearly doubling the size of the house without creating visual dominance or affecting neighbouring amenity. The extensions were carefully shaped and detailed to address these constraints and sit harmoniously within the local context.
