VEERA KARKKONEN
SAFFA, Dip Arch (Hons)
We studied architecture together with Alexander Rakita, and after more than 30 years pursuing my own international career, I have recently joined forces with AR Architecture in a new collaboration. From my base in Finland, I bring broad global experience and a shared commitment to thoughtful, high-quality design.
After graduating with honours from the Moscow Architectural Institute, I founded TRIART 2000 in Moscow and later SALTEH NORD Architects in Finland, delivering projects across Europe, China, the UK, Russia, and the Middle East - from private villas and cultural buildings to large-scale urban developments. My approach is grounded in sensitivity to context and a balance of innovation, tradition, and craftsmanship. Collaborations with studios in London, Milan, Tel Aviv, and Dubai have shaped a design philosophy that values authenticity and the cultural identity of place as much as form and function.
Alongside architecture, I am an established artist with numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide. My artwork explores themes central to my architectural practice - light, structure, material, and emotion - each discipline enriching the other.
I strive to create architecture and art that endure, inspire, and deepen the connection between people and their environment.
